otomicroscopy
Otomicroscopy is a detailed examination of the outer ear and eardrum of both adults and children. Using a special medical microscope, the otolaryngologist gets strong lighting and multiple magnifications, which allows you to accurately assess the condition of the ear canal and eardrum, diagnosing even the smallest pathological changes.
An otomic microscopic examination is recommended for patients, if necessary, to determine and evaluate:
Timely diagnosis allows you to more accurately identify the cause of the problem and initiate appropriate treatment.
do not use ear drops immediately before your appointment (unless instructed otherwise by your doctor) as they may make the visual diagnosis difficult.
do not attempt to clean your ears with cotton buds or other means on your own – this can injure your skin or push the earwax blockage deeper, making it difficult to see.
inform your doctor about pain, discharge from the ear, or previous ear surgery.
patient is usually sitting or lying down and the doctor carefully examines the ear canal with a microscope.
a specialist can perform a gentle and accurate cleaning of the ear canal or removal of earwax blockages using micro-instruments or a suction device;
Your doctor will evaluate the results and recommend the most appropriate treatment.
a specialist’s opinion on the state of health of the ear and eardrum;
clear recommendations for future treatment, medication or necessary hygiene procedures;
plan for a control visit if necessary to monitor the progress of healing.
