Audiometry is a painless and accurate diagnostic method that allows you to evaluate hearing and determine its disorders in both adults and children. During the examination, hearing is measured at different frequency ranges, helping to diagnose hearing loss, the type of hearing loss.

An audiometry examination is recommended if there are:

  • Acute or chronic hearing loss;
  • Tinnitus or tinnitus: it is important to note that this noise can be variable – it can appear and disappear or change in intensity, which is an essential indicator for the doctor;
  • The need for control before or after ENT surgery.
  • Preventive Inspection Required

Timely diagnosis allows you to more accurately identify the cause of the problem and initiate appropriate treatment.

How do I prepare for an audiometry exam?

First step

avoid noisy environments and headphones for at least 12 hours before your appointment.

Second step

do not use ear drops immediately before the examination.

Third step

bring previous audiograms, if any, so your doctor can assess the dynamics.

What happens during an audiometry examination?

perform tone audiometry – the patient listens to different height and volume signals in the headphones by pressing a button the moment he hears a sound;

measures the conductivity of sound through air and bone;

identify the hearing threshold and identify possible types of hearing loss for each ear separately;

explains the results obtained and the need for further medical or surgical treatment, hearing aids or rehabilitation.

What will you receive at the end of the study?

the results of the audiogram (graphical representation of hearing) and the explanation of the doctor;

clear recommendations for further treatment or prevention.

if necessary, referral for additional diagnostics (e.g. MRI) and ENT follow-up visit plan.

Timely audiometry is the first step in preventing permanent hearing loss.
