Septoplasty is a surgical procedure aimed at correcting a curved or deformed septum of the nose – a structure of cartilage and bone that divides the nasal cavity into two parts. The deformation of the septum can be congenital or acquired as a result of injury, and often causes nasal congestion, difficulty breathing, and repeated inflammation of the sinuses.
Septoplasty is recommended if:
Stop taking blood thinners (such as aspirin, ibuprofen or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) for 5 days before surgery, unless otherwise directed by your doctor.
follow the anesthesiologist’s advice on eating and drinking before surgery.
on the morning of the day of surgery, neither eating nor drinking should be allowed (except for a small water sip agreed by the anesthesiologist for the use of special medicines);
it is recommended to stop smoking at least 2 weeks before surgery to promote healing.

corrects deformed cartilage and bone parts of the septum, preserving the mucous membrane;

The operation usually takes 45–90 minutes.
