polygraphy
Polygraphy is a modern and suitable method of sleep examination for both adults and children. Unlike inpatient examinations, polygraphy is performed on an outpatient basis – in the patient’s usual environment and sleeping conditions. This examination is the primary step in diagnosing serious sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea (stopping breathing while asleep), snoring and decreased sleep quality.
A polygraphic examination is recommended for patients in order to:
Timely diagnosis allows you to more accurately identify the cause of the problem and initiate appropriate treatment.
To ensure that the results are objective:
follow your usual daytime and sleep patterns.
avoid alcohol consumption and excessive caffeine intake on the day of the examination;
inform your doctor about your medications, especially hypnotics or sedatives.
The process is simple and does not require an overnight stay at the clinic:
during the visit to the clinic, you will receive a compact printing device and detailed instructions for use;
you will independently connect the sensors of the device before going to bed;
the device will automatically record all physiological data throughout the night;
the next day, take the device back to the clinic, where the specialist will read and analyze the data.
a detailed sleep analysis report with information on the number of breaths (AHI index) and oxygen indicators;
specialist recommendations for further treatment: whether lifestyle correction, drug therapy, ENT surgery or use of CPAP (positive air pressure) equipment is required.
